Blackburn Rovers defender Phil Jones could miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury in the 1-1 draw with West Ham.
The England U21 international came on as a second-half substitute Chris Samba but only lasted seven minutes before twisting awkwardly as he prevented Carlton Cole from finishing Keiron Dyer's cross.
He will undergo surgery on Sunday and could miss around five months of the season.
"He felt the outside of his knee and he knew straight away," interim Rovers boss Steve Kean told the club website. "He'll see a specialist in the morning and I think it will require an operation and will be quite a long-term injury."
Samba was also injured in the match, as was striker Jason Roberts, who lasted eight minutes before coming off feeling his hamstring.
"Jason felt it right in the middle of the muscle so that is going to be a few weeks as well," Kean added.
"Chris felt a little tweak in his ankle, a little twist, so we don't think that it a bad one."
