Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has ruled out signing Raul, James Milner or Ashley Young because they would cost too much money.
Raul, 33, marked his last day of a 16-year stay at the Santiago Bernabeu by claiming that he could now be set for a move to the Premier League, with Newcastle, Manchester United and Liverpool linked to the Schalke target.
Spurs boss Redknapp insisted a move for the former Spain striker, who scored 323 goals for Los Blancos, would be beyond Spurs financially, but admitted he is interested in signing Luis Fabiano.
"I like Fabiano. I've got other targets, but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't like him, he's a top player," Redknapp told Sky Sports News. "Raul was a great player at Real Madrid, but I wouldn't think he would be a player we would bring to Tottenham.
"Financially, I don't think it would be possible to do a deal like that."
Spurs have also been connected to Manchester City target Milner and his Aston Villa team-mate Young.
Redknapp thinks those deals would be out of their range too.
"No, we wouldn't be able to (sign Milner)," he added. "Anybody would like James Milner, he's an outstanding young player, but he'd be way out of our depth.
"Again, I wouldn't think they'd want to sell Ashley Young.
"He is a good player but he belongs to Villa. We've not made any enquiries for him at all."
