Burnley are still without a win this season after West Ham United beat the Clarets 3-1 in the Premier League at Turf Moor.
Sean Dyche's men probably should have been the team to take the lead early on however, with a number of opportunities spurned by their forwards and a Lukas Jutkiewicz goal ruled offside.
The visitors finally broke the deadlock in the second half with a quick double burst of goals from Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia.
Both strikes came from dangerous, direct deliveries from on high, and while George Boyd was able to grab a consolation shortly after, substitute Carlton Cole soon added a third to secure the points for the Hammers.
The result sends West Ham into the top four while Burnley are now five points from safety.
KEY MOMENTS
5' - CHANCE: George Boyd rattles the crossbar with a well-taken half-volley off his chest. The Scot does well to find some space and fire off a shot but it's not enough to open the scoring.
8' - GOAL DISALLOWED: Lukas Jutkiewicz puts the ball past a sprawling Adrian, who's left in a heap after half-saving Boyd's initial shot. Yet as the Pole spurts off to celebrate his first goal for Burnley, the linesman raises his flag for offside. The striker was just a touch off.
22' - DANGER: Indecision in the Burnley box almost leads to disaster, as Valencia and Sakho's pressure begins to show. Shackell rushes his clearance and the ball rockets up into the air rather than out of the area. He has to react quickly to hold off West Ham's attackers as he fashions a better attempt as it falls back down to Earth. Burnley aren't looked so solid and organised against aerial balls.
89' - CHANCE: Now it's West Ham's turn to try and inflate the score line once more. Cole staggers into the Burnley area, but he is eventually dispossessed by the Clarets, who gang up on his to prevent a fourth goal.
90'+4 - OFFSIDE: Marvin Sordell runs free into the West Ham penalty area, and tries to run around Adrian with the rest of the Hammers defence nowhere to be seen. However, the linesman rules him to be offside.
KEY STATS
As per Infostrada, West Ham have now won successive Premier League matches for the first time since March 2014. This is the first time they've won successive topflight fixtures by a two-goal margin or better since a run of four in a row in Feb 2014.
TALKING POINT: Should West Ham be eyeing up Champions League football in the near future as suggested by Andy Carroll? The Hammers' move to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford will hand them a modern football stadium at a knock down price, but on the field they would need to invest heavily to get anywhere near to Europe's premier club competition. Against Burnley, they again showed their quality as a top-half challenger this season, but their triumphs are still reliant on perspiration rather than inspiration. The Europa League certainly looks feasible for Sam Allardyce's team though, especially if they can continue to keep up their current form.
MAN OF THE MATCH
George Boyd (Burnley): The Scottish creator was once again Burnley’s brightest spark, and though he ultimately wasn’t able to resurrect Dyche's side and secure a point or three, it wasn't through lack of trying. Perhaps with Danny Ings now back in the starting line up, the midfielder's creativity will soon start to be converted into goals and victories rather than frustration and disappointment as the chances he produces are spurned time and time again. He deserved his goal, even if it only proved to be a consolation.
