Liverpool target Diego Costa signs Atleti extension

Diego Costa has put pen-to-paper on an extension at Atletico Madrid, tying himself to the club until 2018.

The Brazilian attacker had been linked with a summer move to Liverpool, with the Anfield club reportedly offering €20m (£17.1m) for the goalscorer.

However, it has been confirmed that the 24-year-old has signed for a further three years with the capital club.

“I want to thank the club for making me this offer,” he told their official website. “I want to spend much more time here and hope to become a much better player.
