Chelsea team doctor Eva Carneiro has thanked the public for their support after she was criticised by manager Jose Mourinho after the club’s draw with Swansea City.
Carneiro took to her Facebook page to express her gratitude to supporters who backed her after Mourinho slammed the club’s medical team for treating Eden Hazard late in their 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.
Already reduced to 10 men after goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was shown a red card, Chelsea were temporarily down to nine after Carneiro and her team treated Hazard – who had to leave the pitch as a result – for what was described by Mourinho as a ‘slight knock’.
Carneiro's response on social media was simple and positive:
"I would like to thank the general public for their overwhelming support," she posted.
"Really very much appreciated."

Mourinho had said of Chelsea’s medical staff: "If you go to the pitch to assist a player, then you must be sure that a player has a serious problem.
"I was sure that Eden didn't have a serious problem. He had a knock and was very tired.
"My medical department left me with eight fit outfield players in a counter attack after a set-piece and we were worried we didn't have enough players left."
