Jamie Vardy charged with improper conduct for red card reaction

Vardy was sent off for diving during the match against West Ham, his second bookable offence of the game.

Jon Moss's decision looked extremely harsh at the time, however, leading many to suggest that the decision might be overturned.

Yet Vardy's furious reaction to what happened appears to have made things worse: his outrage-fuelled attack on Moss after the sending-off has landed him a further charge, one which could well land Vardy an extra match on the sidelines.

Leicester have also been charged with failing to control their players.

If Vardy were to be banned for two matches, Leicester would be without their star striker for both the match against Swansea this weekend and against Manchester United on May 1.

Moss's refereeing performance drew huge criticism. Not only was his red card for Vardy seemingly very harsh - there was extensive contact between him and West Ham's Angelo Ogbonna, and Vardy only went to the ground as the pair's legs became entangled - but he was also accused of "evening things out" by awarding Leicester a highly-questionable late penalty which gave Claudio Ranieri's men a 2-2 draw.

Former Premier League chief referee Keith Hackett called it "the worst refereeing performance I have witnessed all season" in a blog written for website you-are-the-ref.com, calling Moss "totally inconsistent".

Alan Shearer made similar comments on Match of the Day, saying that Moss, "could not handle the pressure and I think that clouded his decisions. The inconsistencies were mind-boggling."
