Liverpool have been dealt an injury scare after Philippe Coutinho was stretchered off during the first half of the Reds' Premier League match against Sunderland, with a serious-looking injury.

The Brazil international went down in considerable pain after a coming together with Sunderland player Didier Ndong, and was tended to by medics for some time before leaving the pitch on a stretcher.

The 24-year-old’s foot was placed in a protective brace as he was carried from the pitch and replaced by Divock Origi.
The former Inter Milan player's form this season - he has hit five goals in 12 league appearances - have been central to Liverpool's bright start to the season, and his loss would be a considerable blow to the Reds.
