Chelsea tail one of Serie A's best, Manchester United's big fee for a Lisbon midfielder and a £5 million fight for a Leicester starlet. It's Wednesday's Paper Round.

Conte confident of Higuain signing with Costa on the way out

Antonio Conte is positive about the chances Chelsea have of signing Gonzalo Higuain on a £45 million transfer, according to the Mirror. The story says that with Higuain being Chelsea's number one target, it may create the opportunity for Diego Costa to either head back to Atletico Madrid or the Chinese Super League. While Chelsea are adamant he's not for sale, the report reveals that at least three different Chinese clubs have asked for his services while Atletico have left the door open for a return.
Paper Round's view: Higuain is hot property, so Chelsea need to get in early before other Premier League clubs think there is a chance for his signature. As for Costa, a move might be a good thing, as he is one of the many players that have had their confidence shot since the Mourinho meltdown.

Joao Mario linked to Man United on massive £47 million deal

Manchester United will jump at the chance at signing Sporting Lisbon's Joao Mario, according to the Metro. The 23-year-old has a £47 million release clause in his contract and was reportedly going to be sold for nearly half of that by the club, but his performances this season and United's interest have once again boosted his value. Mario had 37 appearances for his club this season, scoring 7 times and being largely influential on the pitch.

Paper Round's view: While by all means Mario is a stand-out talent in Portugal, United have to get out of this trap of signing players on short-term form for ridiculous fees. They'll likely pay less than the £47 million release clause, but there are no guarantee so far that Mario can reproduce that influence on games in England or in the Champions League consistently.

Leicester's Ben Chilwell targeted by Liverpool and Arsenal

Both Liverpool and Arsenal will try to prize 19-year-old full back Ben Chilwell from Leicester, according to the Mirror. Liverpool reportedly value Chilwell at around £5 million, but it is expected that Leicester will demand a higher fee for his services. It comes as Arsenal are also very interested in the under 20's England international's services, despite only 3 appearances for Leicester all year.
Paper Round's view: While Chilwell was at Huddersfield Town on loan for part of the season, the good injury luck of Leicester probably denied him of more Premier League football. Has no spectacular speed and skill, but is a very intelligent defender and times his runs out of the back well.

Liverpool bid for Udinese and Poland star Piotr Zielinski

Liverpool's opening bid for Jurgen Klopp's prized target Pitor Zielinski has opened at £12 million, according to the Daily Star. The 21-year-old has turned heads with his season-long loan at Empoli, playing as a lively midfielder or wide player and acting as a strong creative outlet. Zielenski in the story admits to speaking with Klopp and saying there's "a lot of truth" to the links to Liverpool.
Paper Round's view: It's a classic Klopp buy - a relatively obscure but talented and hungry youngster that can be moulded into his master plan. Would have a lot of cover to cause havoc with Coutinho and Firmino taking most of the oppositions' attention.
