David De Gea will get worked back into the Manchester United team even if he doesn't sign a new contract. That and more from Friday's papers.

De Gea will play even if he doesn't sign new deal - David De Gea's playing time will not be determined by whether he signs a new contract at Manchester United. The Mirror understand that Louis van Gaal will hand De Gea a fresh start and that his status in the team won't be affected by his contract situation. De Gea was concerned he would be ostracised at United and lose his spot as Spain's number one, but Van Gaal is ready to bring him back into the team and keep him there all season.
Paper Round's view - Starting Sergio Romero instead of De Gea because the latter would like to leave on a free transfer after the season would be the height of stupidity. De Gea is so much better than Romero and it's not as if there's reason to think that he's not going to give his best for United. He should be their starting goalkeeper and Van Gaal will ensure he is given the chance to be.

United beat Europe's heavyweights to Martial - Why did Manchester United spend so much money on Anthony Martial? Sources tell The Mail that they had no choice because Barcelona, PSG, Manchester City and Chelsea were all chasing the 19-year-old. Man United paid £36 million for Martial, with add-ons potentially taking it up to £57.6m. Had United not signed Martial, the player could have signed a pre-contract in January with anyone he pleased. "We paid a premium to get him now. It is similar to what we did with Ronaldo - and that turned out OK," the source said.
Paper Round's view - Martial is one of Europe's best young talents and he's not just a bundle of potential. He's proven himself to be fairly capable in Ligue 1 and the Champions League already. If he makes good on his considerable potential, United will have done well, but they're still paying an enormous price. It's tough to imagine that they had to pay all that money when everyone else was trying to sign him to a pre-contract months from now, but United are not exactly efficient in the transfer market.

Cole will not leave Roma - Ashley Cole has been left off of Roma's Champions League squad, but The Mirror claim that he will not cancel his contract. Cole's time at Roma has been rocky and he is not in Rudi Garcia's plans, but he still has one year left on his contract and will stay there for the remainder of it. "He’s not going to be cancelling his contract to go back to play for a lower-league club," a source told the paper.
Paper Round's view - Cole is not going to see the field at Roma. Not only is Garcia not a fan of his, but Roma bought Lucas Digne this summer so they now have a better and younger left-back than Cole. It doesn't appear as if Cole has many options, though. At this point, staying at Roma and cashing some healthy cheques until January isn't a bad bet.

Adebayor can't play, but will make £5m - Emmanuel Adebayor will collect £5m to sit on the bench, according to The Sun. Spurs left Adebayor out of their Premier League and Europa League squads, making it clear that he won't be part of the team, but they still owe him £100,000-per-week. That comes out to £5m for the season, which he will collect without having to play after snubbing several moves this summer.
Paper Round's view - Adebayor knew this was coming. Spurs told him and pretty much anyone else that he had no place in the team and would not play this season. Despite that, he rejected loan deals to West Ham and Aston Villa so he's stuck now. It was his choice. He can get paid, but he won't be a footballer.
