Brendan Rodgers' job is in doubt, while Jose Mourinho is upset with Roberto Martinez. That and more from the Monday papers.

Rodgers in danger - Brendan Rodgers could be on the way out of Liverpool if things don't improve, The Mail understand. The Reds' loss to Manchester United over the weekend was their latest disappointing result as they continued to struggle for chances, as well as to defend. Now Rodgers' job is very much in doubt and if the team doesn't turn things around, he won't be employed for much longer.
Paper Round's view - This was always going to be a make or break year for Rodgers. He almost didn't survive to this season and had to prove that he was the man to stay at Anfield. Consecutive losses to West Ham and Man United, with three goals conceded in each, have the Reds thinking he may not be cut out for this gig and a few more results like this might seal his fate. The results may be a surprise, but his job security being nearly non-existent when things go poorly isn't.

Mourinho feuds with Martinez - Jose Mourinho was furious that Roberto Martinez took his post-match interview first and got into an expletive-filled shouting match with the Everton manager, according to The Sun. Customarily, the home manager allows the away manager to speak to the press first so the visitor can be done with it and go home. But after the Toffees beat the Blues, 3-1, Martinez did his interview first, setting Mourinho off.
Paper Round's view - It would have been nice of Martinez to let Mourinho go first seeing as he had to catch a plane back to London and Mourinho could very well have been irritated, but did it have to bother the Chelsea manager as much as it did? Not a chance. But a lot of things that should be minor are becoming big problems for Mourinho, who then makes it an even bigger issue.
Newcastle to try for Austin in January - Newcastle balked at QPR's £15m asking price for Charlie Austin in the summer, but they're not going to quit on signing the striker. The Telegraph claim that the Magpies are going to test QPR's willingness to let Austin leave on a free transfer after the season and offer £6m for the striker. There are still questions about the health of Austin's knee, but it's a much more palatable risk at £6m than it was at £15m.
Paper Round's view - Austin would be a fine addition to Newcastle, but £6m may not get it done. Even if QPR are willing to drop their price significantly, which is a stretch considering how stubborn they were in the summer, doing so would bring several other clubs into the mix. As many as a half-dozen clubs enquired about Austin, only to be scared off the price, so Newcastle may be intent on £6m, but they'd face competition at that price.

Adebayor will sort out future while on holiday - Emmanuel Adebayor is going on holiday to France and The Mail believe that he will decide his future then. Adebayor and Spursagreed to part ways, making him free to sign wherever he would like, but there is no telling where he will go. He can't play for a Premier League club in January and would need FIFA approval to play for a team in another league, but it's also unclear which clubs want him, although it is believed that Aston Villa do.
Paper Round's view - Adebayor can still make an impact, it's just a matter of what form and mood he's in. He's entirely unpredictable and unreliable, but if a team has a luxury of taking a chance on a striker then he's not a bad bet. The question is what wages he will demand and what clubs will be willing to pay him because that was a major sticking point when Spurs tried to offload him in the last two transfer windows. He and Tim Sherwood did get along so Villa wouldn't be a bad fit.

Ex-Marseille president to be charged with money-laundering in transfers - Former Marseille president Jean-Claude Dassier will be charged with money-laundering in transfers that sent players to the Premier League, per The Sun. There is no evidence that any Premier League players or their agents involved in the deals did anything wrong, but the police are looking at Dassier's actions from 2009-2011 in transfers, including those of Cesar Azpilicueta, Hatem Ben Arfa and Loic Remy. It's reported that £40m went missing.
Paper Round's view - It's amazing to think that someone at a high profile club like Marseille, selling players to big clubs like Chelsea and Newcastle, could launder as much as £40m and keep it hidden for at least four years, but here we are. It's good to know that there is no evidence of players, agents or other clubs being involved in it, but the allegation that Dassier worked with organised crime bosses on the scheme is frightening.
