United close to deal for £25m Schneiderlin - Morgan Schneiderlin could be on his way to Old Trafford. The Star claim that Southampton have accepted a bid from Manchester United that would see the Saints get £20m initially, with the fee to eventually rise to £25m. Now the Red Devils are completing personal terms to wrap up the deal and beat Arsenal for the French midfielder and the transfer is all but a certainty with United set to land one of their biggest transfer targets this summer.
Paper Round's view - It has long looked like Arsenal would get Schneiderlin. They really wanted him and every report indicated that he preferred a move to the Emirates, but Manchester United are a big club, back in the Champions League and have an insane amount of money to spend. Toss in the Red Devils' need for a central midfielder and Schneiderlin to Old Trafford makes sense. This would certainly represent a valuable move for United, even if he does not have the profile of Paul Pogba.
City near Pogba deal - Manuel Pellegrini thinks Manchester City have won the race for Pogba and will sign him for £60m, according to The Sun. City are ready to break the British transfer record for Pogba, who will be paid more than £200,000-per-week. With the Pogba deal nearly done, City can now turn their attention to completing a move for Raheem Sterling.
Paper Round's view - Pogba is a super player and will immediately improve the City midfield, but it's tough to believe they have a deal done. Pogba prefers a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain are still interested and Juventus look likely to drag any bidding out. Maybe City are in pole position or think £60m will get it done at some point this summer, but that point probably isn't now.

Real Madrid reject United bid for Ramos - Manchester United's first bid for Sergio Ramos has been shot down. The Mail understand that the Merengues have rejected the Red Devils' opening £35m bid for the central defender, but United are not going to give up. Ramos still wants to leave the Bernabeu and the Red Devils are already considering an improved bid for the Spaniard.
Paper Round's view - Real Madrid aren't an easy club to deal with and were never going to accept the first bid they got. United surely knew that and didn't actually expect to get him for £35m, but both clubs know that Ramos wants out and that he wants things decided soon. Expect an improved bid before long and if it's not one that Real Madrid accept, it will be close.

Villa chasing Tottenham trio - Tim Sherwood wants to bring some of his former players to Aston Villa. The Sun believe that the Villa manager is going to try to sign Andros Townsend, Emmanuel Adebayor and Tom Carroll from Tottenham. Townsend is Sherwood's top target, but he's hoping to get a bargain price on Adebayor too, while Carroll could be available on a loan.
Paper Round's view - Spurs don't want to sell Townsend and have promised him more playing time, but they can only give him so much if they buy a couple of wingers as planned. Townsend should be available, but not on the cheap after rejecting a bid of £12m from Southampton, so Villa better be willing to pay up. Adebayor has massive wages so Spurs will sell cheap to get rid of them, but Villa have to be willing to pay them and Carroll can certainly be had on loan.

Paulinho could be going to China - Paulinho has agreed to terms with Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande and is nearing a move to China, according to The Standard. The Brazilian midfielder wants to re-join former national team manager Luiz Felipe Scolari in China and will see his wages jump from £55,000-per-week to £90,000-per-week. The hurdle is agreeing to a fee with Spurs, who are trying to recoup the £17m they paid for Paulinho.
Paper Round's view - Guangzhou are one of China's best teams and are exceedingly rich, but it's tough to imagine them paying £17m for Paulinho. He's been terrible since joining Tottenham and isn't a starter for Brazil anymore. But no one will pay Spurs that and they have to accept a bit of a loss to move on from a player that they have no use for. If they're not so stubborn, this deal can get done.
