Raheem Sterling BOOED as he watches Manchester City friendly

Raheem Sterling suffered the indignity of being booed during Manchester City’s pre-season friendly against Melbourne City on Saturday.

Sterling was attending the match against City’s sister club having completed his £49 million move from Liverpool.

The England international was sitting in the stands when he was picked out by the TV cameras for the big screen – and was promptly met with a chorus of boos.

Sterling cracked a smile, as did some of his new team-mates, but it must have been an uncomfortable moment for the young forward.

Sterling was also booed when he played for England against Ireland in a friendly in May.

He spoke to Australian TV about his move from Liverpool to City, discussing his hopes for the coming season.

City won the game 1-0 courtesy of Samir Nasri's well-taken strike but it was far from a convincing performance from Manuel Pellegrini's side.

Turkish youngster Enes Unal also made his debut for the club.
