Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has been ruled out for four months with the injury that has wrecked his Euro 2016 dream.
Kompany announced on Facebook on Saturday that he would miss the tournament in France due to the thigh and groin injury he suffered in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.
The Belgium captain underwent surgery on the problem and national physio Lieven Maesschlack says he will miss the start of next season.
“Vincent Kompany is out for four months,” Maesschalck said. “But he will come back."
City are expected to sign new centre-backs this summer with Guardiola said to be interested in Athletic Bilbao#’s Aymeric Laporte and Everton’s John Stones.
