Jose Mourinho is unlikely to be short of job offers across the continent following his departure from Chelsea on Thursday afternoon.

The 52-year-old has won the Champions League with two different clubs and league titles in each of the four countries he has worked in, making him a prime candidate for Europe's top club jobs.

Here, Press Association Sport takes a look at where his next move could be.

PARIS ST GERMAIN

Ambitious Paris St Germain look on course for their fourth successive domestic title in France, where Laurent Blanc has guided his men to a 17-point advantage at the top of Ligue 1. However, success in the Champions League has so far proved beyond them. Mourinho could be the missing piece in the puzzle and he may be enticed by the Parisians' spending power.

MANCHESTER UNITED

Mourinho's penchant for English football is well known and he has been linked with the post at Old Trafford before both David Moyes and Louis van Gaal took the reins. United are desperate to return to their perch atop of the English game and Mourinho has a proven track record of success; it could be a perfect marriage if a Van Gaal divorce is pushed through.

BAYERN MUNICH

This European powerhouse could soon have a managerial vacancy if Pep Guardiola elects to venture to England after this season. Like PSG, Bayern have a stronghold on their domestic title in Germany and are another club who have aspirations of winning the Champions League in a country where the much-travelled Mourinho is yet to manage.

REAL MADRID

The Portuguese's bridges might have previously been burned in the Spanish capital, but he was at the helm when they secured their last La Liga title in 2012. Madrid are famed for dispensing of coaches and, if they lag behind Barcelona for another campaign, it would not be a huge shock to see them turn to Mourinho once more to try and wrestle back control.

INTER MILAN

One place where Mourinho is still held in high regard is at Inter. There was an outpouring of emotion from fans and players alike when he departed after winning the treble in 2010. Maybe a return to Chelsea has put him off going back to another club where he enjoyed great success, or perhaps the lure of an adoring fanbase could drag him in. Roberto Mancini has things under control at the minute, though.

OUR VIEW

Mourinho’s reputation has been tarnished by this, make no mistake about it. This is the first crisis he has endured as a manager, and, in truth, he has handled it pretty woefully: a strong argument could be in fact made that his abrasive management technique actually was its chief cause. His reputation cannot sustain an appointment where success is not a guarantee, and there is only one club where that is almost a certainty: PSG.
United – despite their heavy investment – need considerable re-building, something he failed woefully to do at Chelsea. Sustaining Bayern’s current run of success would provide quite the challenge and the slightest drop in performance level could be presented as proof of Mourinho’s waning capabilities and the Bundesliga has far more depth than it is given credit for. Real Madrid remain in the shadow the imperious Barcelona and Inter are top of the league by four points after a couple of seasons in the doldrums.
Mourinho can rehabilitate his reputation at PSG – they are almost guaranteed domestic success and they are improving year on year in Europe.
