Sanchez, 21, joined Spurs last summer from Ajax for a fee that could reportedly reach £42 million after he helped the Dutch side reach the final of the Europa League.
He immediately slotted into the team in a back three formation and when Toby Alderweireld went down injured he was the starting centre-back next to Jan Vertonghen.
This season Spurs finished third in the Premier League, four points behind Manchester United but ahead of both Chelsea and Arsenal.
They made it to the semi-finals of the FA Cup and were knocked out by Juventus in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Sanchez made his debut for Colombia in November, 2016 and has seven caps ahead of next month's World Cup where Colombia have been drawn to face Poland, Senegal and Japan.
Sanchez was on Monday named in Colombia's 30-man preliminary squad for the tournament in Russia which starts on June 14.
