Tottenham and West Ham each registered a goal of the season contender as the London rivals drew 1-1 at Wembley.
Pedro Obiang thumped an unstoppable 30-yarder into the top-left corner with 20 minutes to go, before Son Heung-Min responded with an outrageous swerver from equally long range.
As West Ham sat back and invited pressure from the hosts, Spurs were offered multiple chances to take the lead in the first half. Harry Kane had the ball in the back of the net in the early stages, after being given the space to turn his defender on the edge of the six-yard box. However, the prolific striker was ruled offside - and squandered several subsequent chances to put his team ahead.
West Ham offered limited ambition going forward, frequently leaving Javier Hernandez isolated up front, while putting numbers behind the ball. Before kick-off, David Moyes spoke of the importance of staying compact and keeping defensive shape—and the visitors executed their plan perfectly, frequently frustrating Spurs’ patient build-up play and catching Kane in the offside trap.
With seventy minutes on the clock, West Ham took a surprising lead with a stunning strike - and their first shot of the game.
Pedro Obiang was given space and time around 30 yards from the Tottenham goal, where he launched a blistering left-footed strike into the top-left corner.

The opening goal came completely against the run of play in a game in which the visitors had enjoyed around only a quarter of the possession.
The equaliser was a goal of equally stunning proportions - and similar circumstance. Son was gifted the ball 30 yards from the West Ham goal, from where he unleashed an unstoppable drive past Adrian. Son has now been involved in 12 goals in his last nine games at Wembley.
Spurs pushed hard for the winner - with Alli launching a speculative shot from the edge of the area in the dying moments - but West Ham were able to stay resilient.
The result ends Spurs' run of three consecutive wins and sees them end the festive period three points behind fourth-placed Liverpool.
David Moyes' side move up a place to 15th in a congested lower half of the table.
