Football news - Manchester United snap up youth keeper Paul Woolston

Manchester United have signed young goalkeeper Paul Woolston, his agency confirmed on Thursday.

The 20-year-old has been on trial at United after being released by Newcastle in the summer. He has represented England at U17 and U18 levels.

He will now be eligible for Ricky Sbragia’s Under-23 team at Old Trafford.

Woolston had been pictured taking part in United’s first-team training sessions earlier this month.

According to the Manchester Evening News:

Unlike many goalkeepers of his age, Woolston only stands at around six feet tall but it is understood he impressed scouts and coaches with his style of play and distributional abilities.
