Bayern prepare Hudson-Odoi bid

German champions Bayern Munich are preparing a £13million bid for Chelsea teenager Callum Hudson-Odoi. Chelsea rate the 18-year-old highly, as one of the most impressive talents to emerge from their youth side, but Hudson-Odoi is keeping his options open as he chases regular first-team football. He would not be the first English youngster to impress in the Bundesliga, as Jadon Sancho, Reiss Nelson, Reece Oxford and Ademola Lookman all have.

Paper Round’s view: Hudson-Odoi may be tempted by the chance to move abroad where regular first-team football has kicked on the career of so many of his peers. More than that, if he were to join Bayern, then he might see the path cleared by the exit of both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, and see it as a chance for a long term move.

Banega to join Arsenal

According to The Sun, Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega could be on his way to Arsenal. The 30-year-old’s agent spent the last few days in England having talks with Arsenal representatives to thrash out a deal for a player who has an £18million release clause. Unai Emery managed him both at Sevilla and Valencia, and sees him as a replacement for Aaron Ramsey.

Paper Round’s view: Banega is no worse than Ramsey and has worked with Emery before so there is little chance that the move would not work if it did come off. At £18m he would also likely command wages well below the demands of Ramsey - around £200,000 a week - so would also work out as the same cost overall, or perhaps even cheaper.

Sarri to move for Lozano

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has added another forward to his wish list as he looks to find alternatives to Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud, and support for Eden Hazard. Gonzalo Higuain of AC Milan and Callum Wilson of Bournemouth are two names mentioned, but PSV Eindhoven forward Hirving Lozano is a new addition. AC Milan are potential rivals for the player.

Paper Round’s view: Everton also know of Lozano’s potential, but are reluctant to step in because the move from the Netherlands to the Premier League can be too great a step up for some players. From that point of view, Lozano might be a gamble, especially if he arrives at a Chelsea side that are yet to shake off their inconsistent form.

Fabregas linked with January exit

Spanish newspaper Marca is confident that Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas will leave the club in January. They believe that he will leave to find first-team football, something which is now beyond him at Chelsea under Sarri.
Chelsea would be entitled to a fee if he were to leave in the winter transfer window, and Monaco are considered the favourites, due to being able to offer him regular minutes and the chance to work with his friend from Arsenal, Thierry Henry.

Paper Round’s view: Fabregas’ talent has not waned much at all, and in brief appearances for Chelsea this season he has shown he possesses plenty of technical quality. The problem is that for Chelsea, they can’t afford to compromise between technique and fitness to such extremes. Monaco could provide plenty of runners for Fabregas though, and still improve their side by bringing him in.
