Real line up £90m Dybala

Real Madrid could spoil Manchester City’s transfer plans by bidding for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala, says the Sun. Real have scouted the player for years and the 25-year-old Argentine has always wanted to join the European champions. Pep Guardiola wants Dybala at the club and had scouted him during his time at Bayern Munich, but a £90 million move to Real seems likeliest as they bring in a new set of Galacticos.

Paper Round’s view: Real Madrid need additional firepower. They have suffered without Cristiano Ronaldo and his arrival at Juventus could force the Italian champions to raise funds by selling Dybala in the summer. If Aaron Ramsey arrives from Arsenal, it would allow them to free up wages to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

Martial set for United deal

Anthony Martial has told his agent Philippe Lamboley to agree a new deal at Manchester United according to the Daily Mirror. The 23-year-old France international’s contract ends the season after next, and he had looked close to the exit under former manager Jose Mourinho. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival has changed his mind and he is now happy to remain at the club.
Paper Round’s view: Martial is an extremely talented player with plenty of potential if he works at his game and finds consistency, and it is little surprise that Ed Woodward wants to keep such a valuable asset at the club. However, Martial has shown that he is easily thrown off his game by a demanding manager like Mourinho. With many players carrying a similar attitude these days, the club will need to take care over who they appoint as the next permanent manager.

Atletico close in on Morata

Chelsea want to sign Gonzalo Higuain on loan from AC Milan, says the Daily Mail. However, they may not be able to register him by Wednesday in order for him to be eligible for the Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur. Milan will sign Genoa’s Krzysztof Piatek for £31 million from Genoa as his replacement. Leaving Chelsea could be Alvaro Morata, who is close to ending a miserable period at Stamford Bridge by joining Atletico Madrid in Spain.

Paper Round’s view: Morata will return to Madrid, where he previously played for Real, and it would be no surprise to see him thrive again when it more comfortable surroundings. Higuain, too, might improve his form if he is released from Milan where he has struggled to maintain his form at Juventus, and Chelsea desperately need someone to take the pressure off Eden Hazard who can't carry the team any longer.

Arsenal could sell Ramsey to Juventus

The Independent claim that Aaron Ramsey could join Juventus in the winter transfer window, and a £10 million fee would be enough for Arsenal to let him go. That is because they are on the cusp of two midfield signings. The first is bringing in Denis Suarez from Barcelona on loan, and also temporarily signing Bayern Munich’s James Rodriguez, with his parent club Real Madrid open to the switch.

Paper Round’s view: Suarez and Rodriguez are both players who should be able to offer more than Ramsey, who seems to be rated simply because he is available on a free transfer. Getting £10 million while bringing in more midfield cover could help Unai Emery find a new way to set up his side after they have struggled in recent weeks.
