Pogba, 25, was the skipper for the opening match of the Premier League season when United beat Leicester City 2-1.
Despite speculation about a breakdown in the pair's relationship, Mourinho confirmed at his press conference on Friday that Pogba would keep the captain's armband with Antonio Valencia still out.
Pogba scored the opening goal of the new season when he calmly slotted a penalty past Kasper Schmeichel.
After the game Pogba suggested that he would be fined if he said too much. Mourinho responded to that comment by saying: "I am here for two years and a couple of months and the only player that was fined was Anthony Martial, so it is not easy to be fined here.
"You have to ask him. I didn't ask him, I am not going to ask him."
However later in the press conference Mourinho insisted he "couldn't be happier" with Pogba.
Mourinho also confirmed that Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera, Sergio Romero, Marcos Rojo and Diogo Dalot are all still unavailable as well as Valencia.
