Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is optimistic that the club can return to competing for top honours under Sir Jim Ratcliffe's stewardship. The Ineos chief purchased a 25% stake in the club last month, and the Brazilian believes Ratcliffe will lead the club back onto the right track. Casemiro also pledged his support to boss Erik ten Hag, despite a mixed season to date.

Casemiro believes that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s "winning mentality" can elevate Manchester United back to the "highest possible level".
The Brazilian cited Ineos chief Ratcliffe’s impressive track record across other sports as something that can only help the club rediscover their past glories, after purchasing a 25% stake in the club last month.
The Red Devils travel to Wolves this Thursday, February 1, in a Premier League encounter live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
“Of course, he’s visited the club. He’s already introduced himself to us,” Casemiro said in an interview with CNN.
“I think with his winning mentality and his wins in all sports, it’s always very important to have people that want to continue growing.
“With his experience he’ll return Manchester United to the highest possible level. We are very hungry to learn, grow and take the club to the highest place.”
Head coach Erik ten Hag has come under some scrutiny in what has been a mixed campaign to date, with the FA Cup the club's only realistic prospect for a trophy this season.
United currently languish in eighth place, 16 points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool, but Casemiro still believes that the Dutchman is best placed to turn around the club’s fortunes.
“I’m not the person who decides who should be manager,” the Brazilian said
“We have qualified people to decide that, but he showed last season he can grow Manchester United. Last season we had really good growth and the team was trending upwards.
“Of course, Manchester United always needs more and more and always needs to be winning but we showed last season that we are capable of achieving great things.”
Casemiro arrived in England from Real Madrid in August 2022 after a hugely successful seven years at the Bernabeu that yielded five UEFA Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles.
And the 31-year-old remains committed to replicating those successes with United.
“Of course. I’m very happy at Manchester United,” he said.
“As I’ve always said, the fans have always helped me. The club is always good to me. I’m enjoying the Premier League. I’m enjoying the club. Without a doubt, it’s a pleasure for me to play for Manchester United.

Klopp's Liverpool exit 'no good for the Premier League', says Ten Hag - 'He built the club'

“Manchester United is without doubt a big club. It’s not in the best place at this moment in time compared with other clubs like Manchester City or Liverpool.
“However, Manchester United will always be the biggest club in England because of its history, magnitude, and titles.
“So, it was always my challenge to help my team-mates and Manchester United keep growing and of course, as we all want, return the club to being the best in the world.”
