Javi Gracia: Leeds United appoint former Watford boss as new head coach following Jesse Marsch sacking

Leeds United have appointed Javi Gracia as their new head coach. The former Watford, Valencia and Al Sadd manager takes the reins at Elland Road with the club sat in 19th spot in the Premier League table. The 52-year-old replaces Jesse Marsch at the helm, who was sacked on February 6.
Leeds United have confirmed the appointment of Javi Gracia as their new head coach, the Premier League club have announced.
"Leeds United are delighted to announce the club have agreed terms with Javi Gracia to become men’s first team head coach, subject to obtaining a work permit," Leeds said in an official statement on their website.
The 52-year-old has agreed a "flexible contract" at Elland Road.
Leeds had been searching for a new manager since they sacked Jesse Marsch on February 6.
Under-21 boss Michael Skubala had been in charge of first-team affairs at the club, overseeing a 2-2 draw and a 2-0 loss against Manchester United, before a 1-0 loss against Everton. He will remain with the first team for the foreseeable future.
Leeds are sat 19th in the Premier League table at the time of his appointment.
Gracia has Premier League experience, having been appointed Watford boss in 2018. He led the Hornets to a 14th-placed finish during the 2017-18 season.
He guided the club to 11th place the following season and secured an appearance in the FA Cup final, where they lost 6-0 to Manchester City.
Gracia has also managed Osasuna, Malaga, Rubin Kazan, Valencia and Al Sadd.
