A brace from Hwang-Hee chan helped Wolves beat Brentford 4-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium. The South Korean was at his brilliant best, taking his Premier League goal tally for the season to 10 in style. Victory moves Wolves into 11th place in the table, while a fourth defeat on the bounce left Brentford just four points above the relegation zone.

Wolves secured a thrilling 4-1 victory over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Wednesday night.
Goals from Mario Lemina, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and a brilliant brace from Hwang-Hee chan heaped more misery on the hosts, who now sit perilously close to the relegation zone after a fourth straight loss.
Thomas Frank’s side offered plenty of attacking threat but were made to pay for some sloppy defending that ultimately proved their downfall.
The game came to life in a pulsating three minutes and two seconds early in the first half. It was Wolves who wasted little time in adding to Frank’s woes when Lemina headed home at the back post from Pablo Sarabia’s fizzed delivery in the 13th minute.
Less than 15 seconds after the restart, Brentford were the architects of their own downfall when Hwang pounced on Nathan Collins’ horribly short backpass to round Mark Flekken and make it 2-0.
But after a dominant opening 15 minutes, Wolves switched off. Yoane Wissa’s first-time half-volley after a pinpoint Neal Maupay through-ball hauled Brentford back into the contest and but for a sharp Jose Sa save two minutes later, the hosts would have been level.
Hwang was at the heart of everything great Wolves did in the first half before he took a nasty knock, and his second goal was worthy of sealing any victory. The defending left plenty to be desired but the finish was sublime.
Toti Gomes intercepted Collins’ clearance and his header through the middle found the South Korean in acres of space but with plenty to do. He made it look easy as he chipped the defender and calmly slotted home his 10th league goal of the season.
Another underhit pass deep in the Brentford half capped off a miserable night for former Wolves player Collins. This time Matheus Cunha was on hand to intercept and the Brazilian’s unselfishness left Bellgarde with a chance he was never going to miss.
Brentford will have a chance for revenge when Wolves return to the Gtech in the third round of the FA Cup but they face a trip to Selhurst Park first in a bid to arrest a run of six defeats in seven.
Wolves host a resurgent Everton next, who have been galvanised in the face of their 10-point deduction.
