Chelsea's stuttering start to life in the Premier League under manager Mauricio Pochettino continued at home to Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon. Anthony Elanga gave Forest the lead and a disappointing Blues side were unable to fashion a response in West London. The win sees Steve Cooper's Forest leapfrog Chelsea in the table.

Anthony Elanga scored the only goal of the game as Nottingham Forest won 1-0 against a disappointing Chelsea side.
Chelsea were looking to move up the Premier League table and were able to field Cole Palmer, their new signing from Manchester City, on the bench.
There was no place for Forest’s new signing, Callum Hudson-Odoi, signed from Chelsea on deadline day, but they were able to cause problems for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
While Enzo Fernandez went close with a couple of long-range efforts, Taiwo Awoniyi flashed two shots wide from close range.
In the second half, Forest were 1-0 up after sloppy Chelsea play allowed Elanga in for a well-taken first goal for his new side.
Pochettino then handed Palmer his debut as the pressure grew on the home side to start performing, but they continued to labour in front of solid Forest defending.
Nicolas Jackson had a great chance to level only to shin over from close range, and Forest held on for a famous victory.

Talking point - Chelsea still look toothless

They are unfortunate not to have Christopher Nkunku after his serious injury, but they continued to spend after his absence was known and all they have to use through the middle is Nicolas Jackson.
The 22-year-old might eventually come good - and he has a goal already - but the pressure is on a player who was profligate against Forest.
If he does not start converting chances regularly in front of goal, he could become another striker who fails to settle at Stamford Bridge.

Player of the match - Taiwo Awoniyi (Nottingham Forest)

Anthony Elanga stretched play once Awoniyi departed, and he scored the winner, but Awoniyi led the line from the off in the first half and while his goalscoring streak came to an end, his assist showed that he is vital to his team.
