Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold had earlier this week suggested that Manchester City's success might not mean as much to their fanbase as Liverpool's trophies would to their supporters. Speaking ahead of City v Liverpool this weekend, Erling Haaland pointed out that Liverpool were not aware of how it felt to win the treble, as Haaland had last season.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has responded to Trent Alexander-Arnold by pointing out that the Liverpool defender does not know "exactly this feeling” of winning the treble.
In a recent interview, England defender Alexander-Arnold suggested Manchester City’s success because of the level of financial support available to both sides.
Liverpool currently lead the way in the Premier League, a point clear of City, ahead of their weekend top-of-the-table clash.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Haaland acknowledged Liverpool’s position in the league.
He said: “Liverpool are the best team, they have had the best season so far.so we have to try and play our best.
"I think CIty versus Liverpool is a really special game, so it's going to be a really special game and a really important game.”
Responding to Alexander-Arnold's comment, Haaland added: “If you want to say that, okay. I’ve been one year and we won the treble, it's quite a nice feeling.
“I don't think he knows exactly this feeling I felt last season, it was quite nice.
“They can talk as much as they want or he can talk as much as he wants. I don't know why he does that but I don’t mind.”
Haaland noted that City had been in a tough title fight last year, when they overhauled Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal team.
He continued: “Last year, I think we were in quite an interesting title race as well, or maybe someone even put us away from the title race a bit at one point
“It’s a nice thing, and I think one nice thing about the Premier League is there's so many who can win the Premier League.
"In the last years it’s been Manchester City and we’re going to try to do it again. It's not going to be easy but we are good.”
