Manchester United's biggest win of the season came at Goodison Park on Sunday as they won 3-0 against Everton to move into the top six in the Premier League. The highlight was an astonishing goal from Alejandro Garnacho, who stunned the home support with an early overhead kick from which the Toffees never recovered. Despite the home side being on top for spells, United were ruthless in finishing.

‘Already goal of the season’ – Ten Hag in awe of Garnacho wonder strike

Alejandro Garnacho scored a glorious goal of the season contender as Manchester United moved into the top six in the Premier League with a clinical 3-0 win against an energised but blunt Everton side at Goodison Park.
The young Argentina winger celebrated his first goal of the season inside three minutes with an all-time classic in the English top flight as he met Diogo Dalot's cross with his back to goal to send a breathtaking overhead kick spinning beyond England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford from around 14 yards out.
Unhappy Everton fans were protesting the club's 10-point penalty by an independent commission for breaching financial rules earlier in the week, but were silenced by the audacious brilliance of Garnacho's magical finish.
It is difficult to imagine a more acrobatic effort since the modern era inception of the Premier League in 1992, but it probably best provided images of Wayne Rooney's iconic bicycle kick for United against Manchester City in 2011.
Sean Dyche's Everton certainly had the best moments of the first half with the excellent Kobbie Mainoo forced to clear off his line to deny Dwight McNeil a certain equaliser on his first Premier League start for United.
The home side paid dearly for their profligacy as Marcus Rashford slammed a penalty kick into the net on 56 minutes after Ashley Young had felled Anthony Martial via a VAR review before Martial chipped the match-clinching third over Pickford on 75 minutes from a Bruno Fernandes pass.
It is United's biggest win of the season as they move above Newcastle by a point into sixth, while relegation-haunted Everton remain second bottom of the standings on four points.

Talking point: In-form United are trending upwards

It was not so long ago that a few commentators were wondering whether United manager Erik ten Hag would continue in the role beyond their trip to Fulham at the outset of November.
Yet they dismissed the criticism to win that match 1-0 thanks to a Bruno Fernandes winner late on, and have suddenly found consistency in the Premier League with their biggest win of the season in the league at Everton also their fifth success in their past six outings.
With Garnacho scoring a goal that will be celebrated for years to come, this was a performance that reminded you of United from yesteryear in their ability to defend properly and punish the opposition ruthlessly on the counter attack.
They suddenly move above Newcastle into sixth spot in the standings, only six points behind leaders Arsenal, and are on an upward trajectory.
Rather than the brittle feel that blighted them in back-to-back 3-1 defeats to Arsenal and Brighton in September, Ten Hag's side appear to have discovered some real mettle in being able to dig out points at tough venues after securing a fourth straight away win in the Premier League.
They will hope to carry this fresh momentum into the trip to Istanbul to face Galatasaray on Wednesday as they seek to breathe fresh life into their flagging UEFA Champions League campaign.

Player of the match: Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United)

The young United midfielder seemed to be everywhere all at once in a display beyond his years that reminded you of vintage Roy Keane in the simplicity of his ability to read the game, accept the ball, pass it and keep moving.
Difficult to imagine it was only a first Premier League start for the vibant 18-year-old veteran, who took everything in his stride and even prevented Dwight McNeil a certain equaliser by clearing off his line in a frantic first half.
Was replaced by Sofyan Amrabat after 70 minutes of a tireless display at the heart of the United engine room as he stood up to the test of a teeming Goodison Park.

Match highlights

3' GOAL FOR UNITED! (GARNACHO) Well, one of the goals of any season from Alejandro Garnacho as he meets the Diogo Dalot cross to send an overhead kick crashing into the corner of the net. What a goal that is! Was behind him, but he decided to try his luck from 12 yards or so and that is a stunning finish when he is upside down. He can retire now. United lead 1-0.
33' UNITED SOMEHOW SURVIVE Calvert-Lewin forces a fine diving stop by Onana before Kobbie Mainoo does brilliantly to race back and clear the McNeil finish off his line from the rebound. How close was that to 1-1? Everton really finding their feet.
52' VAR CALL FOR A POSSIBLE PEN Young is late on Martial and this looks like a penalty. Martial initially booked for a dive, but the replays show clear contact. Looks like a pen. And Martial will have the yellow rescinded.
56' GOAL FOR UNITED! (RASHFORD) The England forward makes no mistake with the penalty kick conversion. Thumps it high to Pickford's right. No chance for him. A superb finish. It is 2-0 to United.
57' A BRILLIANT STOP BY ONANA What an incredible diving stop by the United keeper to flip the Idrissa Gueye piledriver over his bar. That was travelling at some pace, but Onana followed it like radar to repel the finish.
75' GOAL FOR UNITED! (MARTIAL) Game, set and match for Manchester United as Martial lifts the ball over Pickford from the Fernandes throughball. That is a delightful goal. It is 3-0 for the visitors.
79' EVERTON SO CLOSE TO A RESPONSE! Vitalii Mykolenko thumps a shot off the bar with Onana beaten and it races to safety. Lovely attacking play by Arnaut Danjuma. Everton must be wondering how they haven't scored today.
