Ibrahim Osman has hailed the development opportunities at Brighton after joining the Premier League club.
The Ghanaian winger signed for Brighton from Danish side FC Nordsjaelland for £16 million, and will join the club this summer when the summer transfer window opens.
Osman has impressed for FC Nordsjaelland since making his debut in February 2023 and the19-year-old has been tipped by Brighton’s technical director David Weir as "a young and exciting prospect".
In an exclusive interview with Eurosport Denmark, Osman explained why he chose Brighton as his new club.
"Brighton made the offer, I really like their style of play," he said. "If you watch their history with the young players, they are also a selling club. I think for my development, that's a better thing for me.
Osman added: "My dream was to play in the Premier League, and also to play for a team that have the same style of play as FC Nordsjaelland. They [Brighton] promote younger players. I think it's a better stepping stone for me, for my development."
Brighton are indeed renowned for identifying and developing young talent, significantly progressing the careers of players such as Alexis Mac Allister, Moises Caicedo, Ben White and Evan Ferguson.
The current squad also includes 22-year-old winger Simon Adingra, who played at FC Nordsjaelland from 2021 to 2022, and was recently named the player of the match as Ivory Coast defeated Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations final.
"I spoke to him [Adingra], but not a lot because he was focused on AFCON," Osman revealed. "I didn't want to disturb him, but yeah, we spoke a bit. He gave me some advice."
For now, Osman will finish the Danish Superliga season with FC Nordsjaelland, with the team currently fifth in the league table.
He did not appear concerned at the possibility of picking up an injury before his move to Brighton, saying: "I don't really think about that, because it happens. It’s football, anything can happen. But I'm not focused on getting injured. I just focus on doing my job."
