Jadon Sancho’s Manchester United future is “up to him”, manager Erik ten Hag has admitted, as rumours over a January exit intensify. The England international has been on a personal training programme away from the first-team since September and has not featured for the club since August. "He knows what he has to do, it is up to him," Ten Hag said.

‘It looks a bit tighter’ - Klopp expects close battle for Premier League title

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag says Jadon Sancho’s future at the club is “up to him”.
The England winger has been out of favour since he was omitted from Manchester United's 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in September and has been training separately.
Ten Hag said the 23-year-old has been omitted from the club’s first team because of below-par performances in training, but it’s up to him to facilitate a return.
"He knows what he has to do, it is up to him," the Man United boss said. "What will happen there, he knows what he has to do, if he wants to return it is up to him.
"It is about a culture and every player has to match certain standards and it was about that."
The Dutch manager has been strict about discipline at the club since he took charge at Old Trafford 18 months ago, which saw United legend Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract mutually terminated.
He has demanded that Sancho must buy into the club ethos he has tried to bring to Old Trafford.
The club announced in September that the former Borussia Dortmund player would be on a "personal training programme away from the first team".
He has not featured since United’s 3-2 home win over Nottingham Forest in August and has reportedly missed a number of training sessions recently as talk of a January move intensifies.
Following his £73m move from Dortmund in the summer of 2021, Sancho has played 82 times for Manchester United and scored 12 goals.
The former Manchester City academy star spent three months away from football last season as he battled physical and mental issues, which Ten Hag put down to a fitness issue.
Next up for Ten Hag and Manchester United is a test against in-form Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Saturday.
