Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison has withdrawn from the England squad following an ankle injury he sustained in Spurs’ dramatic 4-1 defeat to Chelsea. Maddison looks set to miss Spurs’ trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, live on TNT Sports. Ange Postecoglou is also set to be without Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie.

James Maddison has withdrawn from the England squad due to an ankle injury.
The midfielder was substituted in the first half of Spurs’ turbulent 4-1 defeat to Chelsea on Monday after struggling with a problem concerning his left ankle.
A statement from Tottenham confirmed Maddison will "remain at Hotspur Way for rehabilitation with the club's medical staff."
"The midfielder will not feature in the Three Lions' UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia," added Spurs.
The north London club are yet to reveal how long the 26-year-old will be out of action, but his inclusion in Tottenham’s squad for the trip to Wolves on Saturday lunchtime, live on TNT Sports, seems unlikely.
He joins a growing list of unavailable Spurs players, with centre-back Micky van de Ven also expected to be sidelined following a hamstring injury.
Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic are out with long-term knee injuries, while Ange Postecoglou will also be without Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie after they were both sent off in the chaotic loss to Chelsea.
England wrap up their 2024 Euro qualification campaign with matches against Malta and North Macedonia in November.
Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate was questioned about Maddison’s injury shortly after announcing his latest squad.
He was among a handful of injury concerns called up along with Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka and Callum Wilson.
“You'd be amazed at how complicated it is picking a squad because of course all clubs are sensitive to information and you're trying to piece everything together,” Southgate said on Thursday.
“So I couldn't be certain that everybody that is in that squad will be there on Sunday night.
“There are varying levels of doubt. With that, Callum [Wilson] is probably the biggest doubt. But equally I'm pretty confident that the others can get through and they're all keen to be in the squad, so that's a really good sign.”
Maddison has enjoyed an impressive spell at Tottenham since making a summer move from Leicester City in a deal worth £40m.
The midfielder has scored three goals and assisted five in his first 11 games.
Maddison was an unused sub for England as they sealed Euro 2024 qualification with a win against Italy in October.
Tottenham’s match against Wolves takes place on Saturday, November 11, live on TNT Sports 1 from 11:00 UK time.
