Manchester United have started their overhaul headed up by Ineos' Sir Jim Ratcliffe with the announcement they have appointed City Football Group's chief football operations officer, Omar Berrada, as their new chief executive. The club had been on the hunt for a replacement for Richard Arnold, who had left the club in November last year as Ratcliffe's co-ownership loomed.

Manchester United have appointed Omar Berrada as the club's new chief executive after he departed from his role at Manchester City.
Berrada established himself at the reigning Premier League and Champions League holders, United’s fierce rivals, as the club’s commercial director.
He then took over as chief operating officer before becoming the chief football operations officer.
United’s previous chief executive, Richard Arnold, left the role in November ahead of Ineos taking a 25% stake in the club as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looked to exert his influence on the football operations at Old Trafford.
Head of legal at Manchester United, Patrick Stewart, had assumed the position on a temporary basis.
Initially it had been anticipated that one of Ineos’ representatives on the United club board, Jean Claude Blanc, would take over, but instead they moved for the City man.
City confirmed Berrada's resignation, saying: "The club understands his decision to look for a new challenge and he leaves with our thanks and best wishes."
United’s statement on Sunday read: "It is our stated ambition to re-establish Manchester United as a title-winning club.
"The club is determined to put football and performance on the pitch back at the heart of everything we do. Omar's appointment represents the first step on this journey."
While there are regular moves between City and United for players at youth level, the only high-profile switch in recent years was the controversial move of Carlos Tevez to City after his spell at Old Trafford.
Berrada is due to start at the club in the summer.
