Sunday will see a huge clash in the Premier League title race as leaders Liverpool face defending champions Manchester City. Ahead of the game Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has said he thinks Liverpool’s trophies “mean more” to their fans “because of the situations at both clubs, financially”. TNT Sports experts Rio Ferdinand and Joleon Lescott have given their views on the comments.

Rio Ferdinand does not think "honest" Trent Alexander-Arnold is trying to stoke up the rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester City with spicy comments ahead of their title showdown.
Liverpool and City will meet on Sunday in a match that could go a long way to deciding who wins the Premier League title this season.
Liverpool are currently top, one point ahead of City and two clear of Arsenal.
Asked about the comments, former United defender Ferdinand said on TNT Sports: “These games don’t need any hyping and he is experienced enough to know that.
“He is an honest kid, I don’t think he is sitting there playing a game trying to get anyone’s back up.
“He just sees things as he sees it and he is a massive Liverpool fan. It's a big game, I can’t wait to see it.”
City have been Premier League winners for five of the last six years.
The only season they missed out on the title it was Liverpool who were crowned champions for the first time in 2020.
Pep Guardiola’s side are also waiting to see whether they will be punished after being charged in 2023 with 115 alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules.
“The thing I would question is the fans [comment],” said former City defender Joleon Lescott about Alexander-Arnold’s words.
“I don’t think you can say any trophy or any game means more to your fans than another set of fans because it’s equally important to everyone.”
City booked their place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League with a comfortable win over Copenhagen.
