Tottenham's hopes of sustaining their impressive start to the season have been dealt a huge blow after James Maddison and Micky van de Ven were ruled out until the new year.
The pair were injured in the same passage of play in the first half of Tottenham's wild 4-1 defeat to Chelsea on Monday.
Speaking ahead of his side's trip to Wolves on Saturday, live on TNT Sports from 11:00 UK time, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou revealed his influential summer signings, and Brazilian star Richarlison, are set for long spells on the sidelines.
"Micky obviously, as we saw the other night, was a hamstring injury. Without putting a firm timeline on it, it’s at least a couple of months out for him. So we’re looking at the new year with him," said Postecoglou.
"Similar [for James Maddison]. He got quite a significant ankle injury the other night and was sent for a scan. It wasn’t great, so he’ll be out for a period of time, probably until the new year as well.
"Richarlison had his surgery, and to be fair to him, he’s battled through the whole of the season so far, but with the international window coming up, this was a chance to get it done now. He’ll only be [out for] a month, four weeks. Hopefully not too long after the international break."
Maddison will be a sore loss for Tottenham in an attacking sense, with the England international registering three goals and five assists in 11 Premier League games, while Van de Ven's goal against Luton proved to be the winner in .
Also missing for Spurs on Saturday will be suspended defenders Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie, after both were sent off in Monday's 4-1 defeat to Chelsea.
Eric Dier, who had not played a single minute of football under Postecoglou this season, replaced Romero in the heart of defence against the Blues, and is in line for his first start of the campaign at Molineux, perhaps alongside the returning Ben Davies, who Postecoglou has confirmed has recovered from an ankle knock that forced him off against Crystal Palace in late October.
Spurs still have longer-term absentees on the treatment table, such as Ryan Sessegnon, Manor Solomon, and Ivan Perisic.
