The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium bore witness to a breathless finish as Tottenham scored twice in stoppage time to claim a dramatic win over Sheffield United and maintain their unbeaten start in the Premier League this season. Gustavo Hamer thought his second-half strike for The Blades was enough for a first win of the campaign before Spurs battled back for victory.

Richarlison starred in the late, late show from Tottenham as a goal in the 98th minute then assist in the 100th stunned Sheffield United.
The Blades were minutes away from a shock win, and what would have been their first of the Premier League campaign, after Gustavo Hamer scored in the 73rd minute.
But then it was Richarlison’s time to take centre stage, the Brazil striker coming off the bench and scoring his first Premier League goal at home for Spurs – in the eighth minute of stoppage time – just days after his brave admission that he would be seeking “psychological” help.
And his afternoon was not over, with Richarlison then playing in Dejan Kulusevski, who scored a dramatic winner in a frantic finale that also saw Oli McBurnie sent off for a second yellow.
It goes down as the latest winning comeback in Premier League history.
Spurs remain unbeaten, and move onto 13 points, while a shell-shocked Sheffield United are still without a win after five league games.

TALKING POINT - Richarlison delivers in difficult week

"I'm going to go back to England, seek psychological help from a psychologist to work on my mind. That's what it's about, coming back stronger. It's about getting into good form at Tottenham. I'm going to sit down and talk to them this week. I need to have a good run, get my match rhythm and get here in good shape."
This was Richarlison in midweek while away with Brazil, and on Saturday following such an open admission, he has finally broken his Premier League home duck for Spurs - and in some fashion.
Football never ceases to amaze, and Richarlison has the moment his honesty deserves.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Richarlison (Tottenham)

Difficult to choose when Sheffield United were so close to a shock win, with Jack Robinson impressing in defence for The Blades, but with a goal and an assist you have to give it to super-sub Richarlison. Some contribution.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

36’ - SHOULD THAT BE A PEN? A break in play means a few replays of that Madison-Basham incident. A tad theatrical from Maddison perhaps, but Basham did stick out a leg and didn’t appear to get the ball… A better angle shows Basham catch Maddison’s foot, but maybe that isn’t a clear and obvious error from referee Peter Bankes? Put it in the “You’ve Seen Them Given” category.
45+4’ - SAVE! Just before half-time, from a corner McBurnie’s header is saved by Vicario! A yard either side and that’s going in…
73’ - GOAL!! SPURS 0-1 SHEFF UTD (HAMER) WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT From nowhere, The Blades are ahead, and it’s a beauty from Hamer, who picks up the loose ball from a corner and strikes a half-volley in off the far post.
The home fans are stunned into silence.
90+8’ - GOAL!! SPURS 1-1 SHEFF UTD (RICHARLISON) A first Premier League goal at home for Richarlison! And talk about timing… Not only does the striker pop up with a header in the eighth minute of stoppage time, but it comes after his brave admission in midweek while away on international duty with Brazil. Well done that man.
90+10’ - GOAL!! SPURS 2-1 SHEFF UTD (KULUSEVSKI) 100 minutes on the clock… and Spurs go ahead! What. A. Turnaround. This time Richarlison picks out Kulusevski, who takes a couple of touches before rifling an attempt beyond the helpless Foderingham.

KEY STATS

Via Opta Joe: Spurs went into the 98th minute trailing to Sheffield United before winning 2-1, the latest winning comeback by a side in Premier League history, surpassing their own record (95th min v Leicester in January 2022).
