Bale had been in superb form for Los Blancos before picking up the injury in the 5-1 win over Sporting Gijon on January 17.
The 26-year-old was on schedule to return for the La Liga match against Athletic Bilbao, with the aim of coming on as a sub to get his fitness up for the Roma opener.
But that target has reportedly slipped with Bale now unlikely to feature before the Roma game.
Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane said before Sunday's 2-1 win at Granada: "Bale is better, but not completely recovered. It's better do things right with him and go bit by bit."
Bale is still yet to train since the injury, but is still expected to be back within two weeks. Real travel to Roma on February 17.

MARCELO ALSO RULED OUT
