Boss Gary Rowett has revealed his reason behind leaving Birmingham's top scorer Clayton Donaldson on the bench in the FA Cup defeat to West Brom.
The 11-goal striker stayed on the bench despite Blues going 2-0 down in the first half, before Jonathan Grounds made it 2-1 on Saturday.
Rowett believes Donaldson may have struggled to make a major impact because of the way the Baggies set up.
"I didn't think it would make a lot of difference to our performance in the game and in hindsight I genuinely don't think it would have done," he told the club's official website, ahead of Tuesday's Sky Bet Championship trip to Sheffield Wednesday.
"If you look at the way West Brom played, they dropped in and made it very difficult for us to have any space.
"I think whoever played up front it would have been very difficult for them to have a real impact on the game so early on.
"As a manager you have to make decisions. Some of the fans are going to accept it, some of the fans are going to understand it and some of them are not going to like it.
"I respect everyone's opinion but I'm not going to be swayed by that."
Meanwhile, teenage midfielder Charlee Lee has been offered a new one-year deal at St Andrew's. The 19-year-old is currently on loan at Lincoln.
