Celtic have become the first team to complete an invincible season in Scotland in over a century courtesy of a 2-0 win over Hearts at Celtic Park.
Goals from Leigh Griffiths and Stuart Armstrong in the second half saw Brendan Rodgers’ side become the first side since Rangers in 1899 to go through a season league campaign unbeaten in Scotland before lifting a sixth straight Premiership title.
They are the first team to go unbeaten over 38 games. They also set an new record points total of 106 points, and a new goals record of 106 goals beating their own club record of 105 in 2003/04 set under another Northern Irish manager in Martin O’Neill.
They finish 30 points clear of second-placed Aberdeen and 39 points ahead of bitter Glasgow rivals Rangers, who ended their first season back in Scotland's top flight in third after a 2-1 win at St Johnstone on the final day.
Celtic will finish the entire season unbeaten if they overcome Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday, a result that will give them the domestic treble as Rodgers bids to join European Cup-winning manager Jock Stein and O'Neill as the only manager in the club's history to complete the feat.
It would be a special achievement for Celtic - who have dropped points on just four occasions in 2016-17 - as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of becoming the first British club to lift the European Cup in Lisbon in 1967.
In a future pub quiz, Kolo Toure - who came on a substitute against Hearts - becomes the first man to complete a league season unbeaten with two clubs after his role in Arsenal's title success in 2003/04.
