Sampdoria confirmed they “have an agreement” with Samuel Eto’o and are waiting for him to end his Everton contract.
The Cameroon legend, 33, has a deal until next summer with the Toffees, but the Serie A club's statement suggests that he has a break clause which would allow him to leave early.
Italian media repors claim that he has agreed terms for a two and a half year contract in Genoa on €30,000 a week - and in an extraordinary twist, the deal apparently includes a clause for a film of the player's life to be made.
While that sounds too bizarre to be true, Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero is a film producer and might conceivably have agreed to such a deal.
“Eto’o has been a great operation on the transfer market,” Sampdoria director of sport Carlo Osti told Sky Sport Italia.
“We have an agreement with him and now are just waiting for him to free himself from Everton.”
Osti also confirmed a deal has been reached with Udinese for Luis Muriel, who is “a great investment for the club to raise the quality level.”
