Mauro Icardi agent meets with Arsenal - reports

Reports in the Italian media claim that Mauro Icardi’s agent met with Arsenal on Wednesday, but Napoli remain in the hunt for the Inter Milan striker.

Icardi’s wife Wanda Nara also acts as his representative and she fuelled speculation today by tweeting from London.

According to Calciomercato.it, she was in a meeting with Arsenal this evening in an encounter that saw both parties express their mutual interest in a possible summer transfer.

However, Napoli also remain in the background as firm contenders for Icardi's signature, especially if Gonzalo Higuain leaves.

As Juventus appear to have pulled out of the running for Higuain, that leaves Arsenal as the main contenders for the Argentine.

Inter have stated Icardi is not for sale, but his wife has given a series of interviews assuring the club had meetings with several clubs, including Atletico Madrid.

It's reported that the wages on offer from Arsenal are worth €7m per year, but his transfer fee would be at least €50m.
