Supporters of the Serie A club dumped 50 kilograms of carrots at the training ground on Tuesday, accompanied by a banner which read: “Enjoy your meal, rabbits!”
Roma’s form has hardly been a catastrophic, but a 6-1 mauling at Barcelona followed by a 2-0 home loss to Atlanta has left fans tetchy.
“Carrots aren’t on our menu,” Sabatini told Sport Mediaset. "The team is very sensitive and aware. Everything can start again from an educated criticism. The squad needs educated criticisms in order to do better.
"Let’s not get depressed, we will put ourselves back in place. We have to trust the team. Roma still exists and has in mind the things that must be done and will be done, because we have a group of great players but above all good guys.
"They know we’re slipping, we’ve had some setbacks, but they are totally taken by the path they must go down."
Roma sit fourth in the Italian top-flight, four points off leaders Napoli.
