Paulo Dybala scored the winner as Juventus continued their resurgence with a 1-0 win over AC Milan to make it three wins on the spin.
The first half was a cagey affair with 16-year-old goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma stealing the show with fine saves to deny Hernanes and Claudio Marchisio.
The schoolboy thwarted Max Allegri’s side in the second half with a fine stop to keep out Paul Pogba’s long range effort.
But he could do nothing to prevent the winner with Dybala chesting Alex Sandro’s pass and lashing the ball in at the near post.
Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side created little to threaten an equaliser and the Bianconeri held on for their third win in a row.
The victory puts the reigning champions into sixth place while the Rossoneri slip to seventh spot.
KEY MOMENTS
5’ – KUCKA EFFORT: Kucka with a stinging volley from the edge of the box that flies inches wide, decent effort.
17’ – NIANG SHOT: Bacca chests the ball for Niang whose first-time effort from 25 yards flies wide, that was nice link-up play.
26’ – MARCHISIO CHANCE: Marchisio with a swerving effort from 25 yards that forces young Donnarumma into a good save.
27’ – CERCI MISS: What a chance! Cerci opts to head the ball down to a team-mate instead of going for goal after connecting with Bonaventura's pass.
38’ – HERNANES STRIKE: Hernanes with a step over and a strike from 25 yards that rises and goes over the bar, good effort from the former Inter man.
40’ – GOOD SAVE: Hernanes' strike deflects off Bonaventura' head and is brilliantly palmed away by the keeper
52’ – KUCKA MISS: Bonaventura wins Milan a corner after his long-range drive is deflected behind. The set piece finds Kucka who fails to get his glanced header on target.
61’- POGBA PILEDRIVER: Pogba tests the keeper with a dipping effort from 30 yards that is parried behind for a corner.
65’ - GOAL! Juventus 1-0 AC Milan: Dybala lashes the ball in at the near post after chesting down Sandro's lobbed pass.
71’ – KUCKA SHOT: Kucka chests the ball down well and lashes in a well executed half volley inches over the bar.
90’+2 – MANDZUKIC MISS: Mandzukic lashes the ball over with a first-time effort from six yards out from Sandro's cut back, he should have scored.
KEY STATS
Gianluigi Buffon made his Serie A debut 20 years ago this week.
Juventus have beaten AC Milan six times in a row.
Gianluigi Donnarumma is the youngest keeper in Serie A history.
Milan’s run of five matches unbeaten comes to an end.
TALKING POINT
Is this Juventus side good enough to retain the title? They may have lost Carlos Tevez, Arturo Vidal and Andrea Pirlo in the summer but the Bianconeri are far from a spent force. Their defence looks as solid as ever and in Paulo Dybala and Paul Pogba they have match winners. They trail leaders Fiorentina by six points and are moving in on the early pace setters after Roma could only draw with Bologna.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Gianluigi Donnarumma (Milan): The teenager showed no nerves despite the occasion with a string of fine saves. He was also commanding from set pieces and was brilliant in punching the ball clear confidently.
