Dusan Vlahovic and Lautaro Martinez bagged superb finishes as Juventus and Inter played out a 1-1 draw in a highly anticipated Derby d'Italia in Turin. Both goals came in the first half, the Serbian striking first, but the two sides couldn't be separated and ultimately settled for a point after a cagey second period. Inter remain top of the table, two points clear of Juve.

The top two in Italy’s Serie A is unchanged after Inter Milan and Juventus couldn’t be separated at the Juventus Stadium thanks to a 1-1 scoreline.
Often the big hitters in Italy, both sides have started this season extremely well and all eyes were on this fixture with both sides looking to land an early season blow that could be crucial later on in the season.
Both sides entered the contest in terrific form and there was enough quality on display to suggest that both these giants of European football are well equipped to last the pace this campaign.
Despite a quiet opening period, things picked up when Dusan Vlahovic fired into the bottom corner following excellent work from the relentless Federico Chiesa.
If the opening goal was intended to make Juventus pull away in the game, they received an almighty shock just moments later when Lautaro Martinez equalised for the visitors with a cute finish.
With the game wide open for large portions of the first half, it was the complete opposite after the break as both teams became cautious.
Opportunities were scarce throughout the half and as the final whistle approached, it became clear that both sides were happy with the outcome.
The race at the top of Serie A looks like being a tight one this season and this result will have been met with joy from the likes of AC Milan and Napoli, who’ll be confident they can push strong as the games continue to come.
A draw will satisfy both managers here, but it’s the coaches of other teams in the mix who will be most satisfied as the leading pair stay within reach.

Talking Point – Serie A is going to have an interesting title race

After Napoli made last season’s campaign a one-horse gallop, the big hitters of Italian football have responded well in the summer and they’re all equipped to go well this year.
Two of those sides played out an evenly matched draw tonight and it’s a result that will probably leave both set of supporters satisfied with plenty of ground still to cover in this race.
Inter had been many people’s pick in pre-season after going so well in the Champions League earlier this year, but Juventus proved tonight that they’re every bit as good as their longtime rivals.
The marathon has many more turns to go but Inter and Juventus demonstrated why they're at the front of the pack tonight, but the single point apiece means they’ve given the incentive to those chasing them.

Player of the Match

Federico Chiesa (Juventus) Always looking to attack and by far the best outlet Juventus had going forward. His direct run and cross led to Dusan Vlahovic’s opening goal and he was key to everything positive about Juventus’ attacking intent.
