It ended up being a fairly comfortable victory for Napoli, who travelled to Lecce expecting to record a victory and duly came away with all three points in their Serie A encounter. A header from Leo Ostigard following a corner gave the visitors the lead, and Victor Osimhen then made it two as he got on the scoresheet. Gianluca Gaetano added a third late on before a penalty made it four.

Victor Osimhen came off the bench to score as Napoli made it two wins in a week by beating Lecce 4-0 away in Serie A.
The reigning Scudetto champions edged an entertaining first half and took the lead courtesy of a header from Leo Ostigard following a corner.
Giovanni Simeone, who replaced Osimhen in the line-up, came agonisingly close to doubling their lead with a shot from the edge of the box that went wide.
Lecce, who started the day on the same number of points as Napoli, should have equalised through Marin Pongracic, who fired over from six yards after a corner.
Osimhen, who was rested due to Tuesday's Champions League clash with Real Madrid, came on at the break and scored with a trademark header from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's delicious cross after a swift counter attack.
The home side made a raft of changes, but Rudy Garcia's side made it 3-0 when Gianluca Gaetano scored from the edge of the box from Giacomo Raspadori's layoff and four when a penalty was converted by Matteo Politano in stoppage time.
The win sees Napoli climb to third in the table.

TALKING POINT

Osimhen's future remains an issue for the reigning champions
The striker has had a challenging week on and off the field.
Napoli stopped short of an apology for that bizarre TikTok video on the Nigerian's penalty miss last weekend which was later deleted following a backlash.
After the threat of legal action from his agent and Osimhen removing pictures of him in a Napoli shirt from his social media account, he showed the row has not affected his performances on the field.
After surprisingly being named on the bench today, he took just six minutes to score to score having also netted against Udinese in midweek.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH

Piotr Zielińsk (Napoli): The Poland midfielder was the glue for the visitors' attacks with his vision and unselfish play. He provided the assist for the opening goal and was a constant threat.
