Roma suffered another defeat in Serie A on Thursday night, suffering a 4-1 away defeat at Genoa. The loss leaves Roma in 16th spot with just five points secured so far this season, while Genoa move up to 11th. Elsewhere, Fiorentina and Frosinone drew 1-1 with both sides in contention to qualify for Europe, and Monza held Bologna to a 0-0 stalemate.

Roma lost 4-1 to Genoa on Thursday night in Serie A, Fiorentina drew 1-1 with Frosinone, and Bologna were held 0-0 at Monza.
Genoa had not beaten Roma in their last 16 attempts and were without a win in their last two home matches.
Roma claimed a 7-0 victory over Empoli a couple of weeks ago to show their potential, but it is their sole victory in Serie A this season, with pressure mounting on Jose Mourinho after speculation that he might depart to Saudi Arabia in the summer.
Albert Gudmundsson gave Genoa an early lead when he fired home from inside the box, but Bryan Cristante headed home an equaliser after 22 minutes.
The home side regained the lead at the end of the first half when Mateo Retegui’s volley concluded a smooth passing move from Genoa.
Morten Thorsby then added another for Genoa on 74 minutes before Junior Messias made it four to complete a one-sided victory.
Frosinone came back from a goal down to draw 1-1 at home to Fiorentina.
Nicolas Gonzalez put the away side ahead after 19 minutes, with the striker notching his fourth in five games this season, following his new contract with the club that will run until 2028.
Matias Soule levelled on 70 minutes for Frosinone, heading in at the back post from a similar position on the pitch to Gonzalez’s effort.
The point lifts Frosinone into eighth position, behind Fiorentina, who have 11 points, in seventh.
Monza drew 0-0 at home against Bologna in another early evening kick-off.
Bologna finished the game with 10 men after Alexis Saelemaekers saw red on 86 minutes.
The right winger, on loan from AC Milan, was initially given a yellow card, and when he sarcastically applauded the referee, he was issued another yellow.
Bologna are now in 12th position on seven points, while Monza are a point behind in 14th.
