Conor Coady says Everton are in a “bad place” after they suffered defeat against Manchester United in the FA Cup, but “must keep fighting” for Frank Lampard. The Everton boss is under immense pressure following a poor run of form. “We are in a bad way, bad place and everyone wants to get out of it. The manager understands the football club. We need to keep listening to him,” Coady said.

Everton defender Conor Coady says the club are in a “bad place” but are “fighting” for boss Frank Lampard despite defeat in the FA Cup against Manchester United.
The Toffees have lost six of their last eight games in all competitions, which has seen them dumped out of the League Cup and FA Cup, and drop into the Premier League’s bottom three.
There were positive signs when they held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at Etihad Stadium, but a subsequent 4-1 defeat at home to Brighton & Hove Albion left Lampard clinging on to his job.
Coady, who cancelled out Antony’s opener on Friday night before turning the ball into his own net as Manchester United went on to win 3-1, has backed Lampard to turn the club’s fortunes around.
"We are in a bad way, bad place and everyone wants to get out of it, Coady said, who is on a season-long loan from Wolves. "We came here with a plan and stuck to it. To lose the game to an own goal and penalty, it is gutting.
"We are not enjoying it and need to get out of it quickly. The manager is fantastic with all of us, outstanding, and he understands the football club. We need to keep listening to him."
Antony quickly put Manchester United in front on Friday night as he tapped in a brilliant Marcus Rashford cross inside four minutes, but Coady capitalised on a David de Gea mistake to equalise 10 minutes later.
Another moment of brilliance from Rashford forced Coady to turn the ball into his own net early into the second half before a 97th-minute penalty sealed the win for Manchester United .
Despite the disappointing result, Coady insisted he and the squad “must keep fighting” for Lampard.
"We focus on trying to get results, we love this football club and we need to keep fighting," he added. "At the minute, we are not a team that can play pretty football but we go out there and give 200%."
More than 9,000 Everton fans were packed into Old Trafford for the third-round opener, and plenty of chants towards the Everton board could be heard, including "sack the board" and "no communication, no plan, no vision".
Lampard was optimistic in his post-match interview with ITV.
"That's not under my control. It's not for me to focus on that," Lampard commented in relation to the chants from the away end. "It's for me to focus on what I saw tonight and that was a performance that every manager wants with the attitude of the team, and the focus.
"This league can change very quickly and when you're in a difficult run you have to work really hard to get out of it, but it can change.
"I don't want to talk about my future, I only want to talk about the players and how well they played. My focus is on this team and getting a result against Southampton."
Everton will look to get their league campaign back on track at home to bottom side Southampton next weekend, who are yet to win a Premier League game under new manager Nathan Jones after four attempts.
