Liverpool will travel to Brighton in the FA Cup fourth round after coming through a scrappy encounter with Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 on Tuesday evening. Harvey Elliot’s goal was worthy of winning any contest as he capped his incisive run with a brilliant finish from distance on 13 minutes. After that, it was largely a match to forget as the Reds progressed.

Liverpool beat Wolves 1-0 and secured their passage into the FA Cup fourth round thanks to a Harvey Elliott wonderstrike.
The Reds pressed Wolves well in the opening exchanges, forcing the hosts into giving the ball away on numerous occasions near their own penalty area.
After 13 minutes Liverpool had the lead, a Wolves counter-attack broke down and Thiago found Harvey Elliott, who drove forward into the final third before unleashing a fantastic strike from distance.
Elliott's goal was the only moment of real quality in what was an otherwise lacklustre first half.
Wolves came out for the second period with more intensity, looking to play more on the front foot. Julen Lopetegui recognised the flat nature of Wolves' first half performance and introduced Daniel Podence and Matheus Cunha at half-time to give the hosts some attacking impetus.
The home side got on the ball more as the game went on, throwing bodies further forward in the last 10 minutes but they ultimately struggled to fashion anything clear-cut as Liverpool managed the closing period of the game well.
Liverpool secured the win to stop their recent run of poor form and a trip to Brighton awaits them in the fourth round.

TALKING POINT - GOALSCORING WOES

Wolves have certainly improved since the arrival of Julen Lopetegui but it's clear that the main issue with Wolves is their lack of cutting edge in front of goal. Lopetegui's men are the Premier League's lowest scorers with just 12 goals from 19 games and tonight it was another performance where they just couldn't get going in front of goal.
Raul Jimenez hasn't featured much this season and in his 84 minutes tonight he failed to have a shot on target. Wolves at one point had Matheus Cunha, Daniel Podence and Adama Traore all on the pitch in attacking areas but it's clear they lacked a real focal point. Wolves will continue to improve and the signing of Pablo Sarabia is a good one, he is a talented winger who will create chances and should chip in with a few goals too, but next on Wolves' list should be a proper centre forward.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - HARVEY ELLIOTT (LIVERPOOL)

The 19-year-old's wonderful strike was the difference between the two sides on the night. It was a confident performance from Elliott who looked to get on the ball and make things happen. He progressed the ball well, especially down the right-hand side and his positive play with the ball drove his side forward. His goal was the best moment of the match and one that he will watch back a few times.
