Liverpool emerged victorious from the blockbuster tie of the FA Cup third round as they found two late goals to defeat Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium. Jakub Kiwior turned into his own net with 10 minutes remaining to leave the hosts chasing the game, with Luis Diaz capping off a fine smash-and-grab victory with a smart finish in injury time as the Reds' hunt for four trophies continued.

'Incredibly delighted that he is back' - Guardiola praises De Bruyne after return from injury

A wasteful Arsenal were sent crashing out of the FA Cup at the Emirates Stadium as Premier League title rivals Liverpool made them pay heavily for a string of misses by claiming a spot in the fourth round with a 2-0 victory from a frantic battle.
Mikel Arteta's side somehow failed to score after dominating the first half with captain Martin Odegaard hitting the bar among several obvious opportunities and their profligacy came back to haunt them as a late Jakub Kiwior own goal (80') and a thumping finish from Luiz Diaz (90+4') in added time sent Arsenal spinning out.
The excellent Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota also hit the bar for Liverpool, who grew stronger the longer the game progressed with Alexander-Arnold providing a devilish free-kick that Kiwior nodded in off the back of his head before Jota set up Diaz's clincher on the counter.
It was a third straight defeat for Arsenal since their 1-1 draw at Liverpool before Christmas – and their first FA Cup loss to the visitors since their defeat in the 2001 final.
Jurgen Klopp's buoyant side host Fulham in the first leg of the League Cup on Wednesday, while Arsenal return to action in the Premier League at London rivals Crystal Palace on January 20.

Talking Point - Arsenal inquest will focus on becoming finished article

Mikel Arteta must be wondering how his side have suddenly lost their past three games to West Ham (0-2) and Fulham (1-2) in the Premier League, and Liverpool in the FA Cup (0-2).
They could easily have won all three matches by several goals, and probably would have if not for their lack of a clinical edge in the final third.
They remain brilliant to watch, but also equally baffling: Arsenal have totted up an incredible 61 shots in their past three matches, but scored only one goal.
When the inquest begins on what went wrong here, it is not a lack of effort or creativity that is the problem.
Perhaps it will be benefical to have the next fortnight off as they look to reset and regroup after a bruising few weeks.

Player of the Match - Ibrahima Konate (Liverpool)

Without captain Virgil van Dijk due to illness, Konate stood firm in defence. Especially after Arsenal threatened to overrun the visiting side during a blistering start to the match.
Konate was outstanding with his timing in the tackle, positional sense and influence on his team-mates providing Liverpool with the platform to claim a famous victory late on.
