Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino said he is “not a normal boss” and called for the fans to trust in the team ahead of their FA Cup fourth round replay against Aston Villa. He addressed his comments after the Wolves match that had been “taken out of context” and also Thiago Silva’s wife’s social media post appearing to take aim at the club, whilst confirming he has the support of the owners.

‘All together in this’ – Pochettino says Chelsea owners texted him message of support

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino insists he is "not a normal boss" and he trusts in his players "more than ever" after back-to-back Premier League defeats.
Ahead of their FA Cup fourth round replay against Aston Villa, who sit seven places and 15 points ahead of the Blues, Pochettino has assured his team that he believes in them.
"I told the players today, I trust in you more than ever. I am going to support you more than ever," he told a press conference on Tuesday.
"I am not a normal boss, I am a leader. I think I need to reflect in every action that I trust the players that we have. We are going to face this moment and know that we can bounce back and win games.”
When asked if he had the trust of the club’s owners, he added: "I received very good texts from them. I think we are all together in this and that's important. Of course I am in contact with them and the sporting director every day."
He reflected on the 4-2 loss to Wolves, which saw his side throw away a lead at home, and said that his comments about his players not being good enough were taken "out of context".
He added: "The question came in a previous press conference about whether the players are good enough for top four or top six. I said 'today after the game we were not good enough'.
"Today or in that game we were not good enough but you have to be careful to take my words. They take advantage of an opportunity to say things. That upset me. But it's part of this position. The most difficult part is to explain to my wife who says: 'Why do you say this, you told me he was a champion!'"
Pochettino was also forced to address a social media post made by Thiago Silva’s wife, which appeared to suggest she was calling for change at Stamford Bridge.
"He [Silva] came today to talk with me," he said. "The important thing is he came and wanted to talk with me. We are very strong in the way we want to operate. We talked and I don’t want to divulge, it was private. It [my relationship with Silva] is very good."
He called on the fans’ support at what has been a turbulent time for Chelsea, saying that fans need to understand that “it's a different Chelsea, a different project, a different everything” and that the club and the fans “need to be together.”
Looking ahead to tomorrow night’s FA Cup replay, he said his team played well in the first game but the circumstances are different this time and it is likely he will make some changes.
