Championship side Coventry City are into the FA Cup semi-finals after one of the most mind-boggling finishes seen in the competition for many seasons. Coventry were ahead by a single goal as late as the 83rd minute, when chaos ensued. First Wolves got a two-goal salvo to look like they had stolen victory, before the visitors hit back and scored twice themselves to make the last four.

Coventry City are through to the FA Cup semi-finals after Haji Wright’s last-gasp strike snatched a dramatic 3-2 victory over Wolves.
The Championship side trailed 2-1 from 1-0 up at Molineux, but scored twice in stoppage-time for a remarkable win that sealed their return to Wembley.
Coventry opened the scoring eight minutes into the second half with Liam Kitching nodding Kasey Palmer’s free-kick across the area for Ellis Simms to apply the finishing touch.
But after failing to increase their advantage, the visitors saw the contest turned on its head with two regulation minutes remaining as Rayan Ait-Nouri volleyed in the equaliser, before turning provider for Hugo Bueno to score his first senior goal.
However, Coventry refused to lie down and snatched a dramatic leveller in the seventh minute of added-on time with Bobby Thomas flicking on Wright’s cross for Simms to volley home from close range.
And there was to be a further twist in the dying seconds with Simms setting Callum O’Hare’s cross up for Wright to bend a first-time shot beyond Jose Sa’s helpless dive and send the Sky Blues through to the semi-finals.

Talking Point – Que Sera Sera for comeback kings Coventry

Coventry seal their return to Wembley just under 10 months since their agonising Championship play-off final defeat to Luton Town.
You have to go back a further 36 years for their only previous FA Cup semi-final appearance, which ironically came on their way to lifting the trophy.
Having seen several opportunities to increase their 1-0 lead go begging, it looked like the chance had passed them by when Wolves turned the contest on its head with two goals in the space of five minutes.
However, they dug deep with two quick-fire strikes of their own snatching the most dramatic of victories, while sending the away fans into delirium.

Player of the Match – Ellis Simms

There were several man-of-the-match displays within the Coventry team, while Ait-Nouri also deserves an honourable mention for Wolves.
But with two goals and an assist, Simms made the most telling contribution to the contest.
It looked like it might not be his day when he missed a glaring first-half opportunity. The subsequent chain of events meant it cost him a third hat-trick in five games.
However, he dusted himself down and bounced back from that miss, getting in the right positions for his two goals, before demonstrating great awareness with his neat lay-off setting up Wright for the winner.
That took his goal tally in this season's FA Cup to five, becoming the first Coventry player to reach that mark in a single campaign since Keith Houchen in their victorious 1986-87 adventure.

Match Highlights

35' – WHAT A CHANCE: How has Simms missed that?! Palmer's low drive is parried by Sa straight to Bidwell, who squares the ball across the six-yard box for the unmarked Simms. However, with the goal gaping, he only succeeds in shooting straight at Sa.
53' – GOAL!!! WOLVES 0-1 COVENTRY CITY (SIMMS): The Championship side lead at Molineux! Palmer's free-kick is nodded across goal by Kitching and Simms, who missed that glaring opportunity in the first half, applies the finishing touch. There is a lengthy VAR review with the ball appearing to accidentally strike his arm before crossing the line. However, the decision eventually goes the way of the Sky Blues, who break the deadlock.
67' – CHANCES FOR COVENTRY: Sa is called into action with smart reflex saves to keep out Wright and Eccles. However, the Wolves goalkeeper then bowls the ball out to Doherty, who is caught in possession on the edge of his own penalty area. Palmer then looks for the far corner, but his shot is whiskers wide of the target.
77' – OFF THE POST: The woodwork denies Ait-Nouri! The left-back is completely unmarked as Doherty heads Sarabia's free-kick delivery across the area, but heads against the post from close range.
84’ – GOAL!!! WOLVES 1-1 COVENTRY CITY (AIT-NOURI): The hosts equalise with six minutes remaining! It comes courtesy of arguably their most lively player today. Latibeaudiere tries to deal with Gomes' centre, but only succeeds in putting the ball on a plate for Ait-Nouri, who volleys past Collins.
88’ – GOAL!!! WOLVES 2-1 COVENTRY CITY (HUGO BUENO): Wolves have turned it around and may just have won it! The scorer of the first goal, Ait-Nouri is the provider of the second. Cutting inside from the left, he drives towards the area before neatly feeding Hugo Bueno, who takes a touch before sweeping past Collins. What a time to score your first senior goal!
90+7' – GOAL!!! WOLVES 2-2 COVENTRY CITY (SIMMS): The visitors snatch the most dramatic of equalisers! Coventry may well have just forced extra-time as Wright's cross is flicked on by Thomas, and the unmarked Simms volleys home from inside the six-yard box.
90+10' – GOAL!!! WOLVES 2-3 COVENTRY CITY (WRIGHT): Oh my goodness!!! Coventry have surely snatched the victory! They push for the winner in the dying seconds and Simms sets O'Hare's low cross into the path of Wright, who brilliantly curls into Sa's far corner.
