The 20-year-old forward has long since been regarded as one of Germany's best emerging talents, although he struggled to live up to that reputation in the past two seasons in Stuttgart.
However, that could be about to change with Werner admitting he feels refreshed by the move to Leipzig.
"I can probably play with fewer hang-ups here because it's something new and the pressure is not as big as it was in Stuttgart," said Werner, who scored two goals in a 10-0 friendly win at the weekend.
Stuttgart-born Werner, who has scored 13 goals in 95 Bundesliga appearances, has left his family home and familiar surroundings to join the top-flight newcomers and he believes that could also contribute to him being a success in Leipzig.
"Living alone will make me more independent and resistant," the Germany Under-21 international told Kicker magazine. "I can still get more robust and you can always improve technically.
"(Leipzig's) promotion has got everybody enthusiastic, even me. Relegation was not the breaking point for me - I just wanted to do something new."
