Arsenal are hoping to reinforce their central midfielder after injuries to Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey, according to reports, with suggestions that they will try to sign Jorginho from fellow Premier League club Chelsea. Jorginho is out of contract at the end of the season and may be allowed to leave if Chelsea manage to sign Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

Arsenal are one of several clubs who hope to sign Chelsea midfielder Jorginho before the end of the January transfer window, according to reports.
The window closes for the five major European leagues on Tuesday night, and Mikel Arteta’s side are interested in reinforcing their squad, reports the The Athletic.
Arenal have already signed Pawel Kiwior from Spezia in Serie A, and brought in Leandro Trossard from Brighton. The club have also reportedly made a £60m bid for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo but it is believed to have been rejected.
Arsenal sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League at the midway point in the season but are without midfielders Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny due to injury.
WIth a day left for clubs to make additions, Jorginho has emerged as a target not just for the summer, when his contract at Stamford Bridge is up, but for the rest of this season.
Jorginho joined Chelsea from Napoli in 2018 and has been a regular starter this season.
However, Chelsea could be tempted to sell the 31-year-old Italy international after spending heavily in the second transfer window under American owner Todd Boehly.
Reports suggest that Chelsea are close to striking a £105m deal for Benfica’s midfielder Enzo Fernandez, and they could countenance a sale of Jorginho to go some way to balance the books rather than lose him for nothing in the summer.
Chelsea have also signed Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk, Benoit Badiashile from Monaco, David Datro Fofana from Norwegian side Molde, Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama, Lyon right-back Malo Gusto - to arrive in the summer - and Noni Madueke from PSV on permanent deals.
The club have also brought in Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid.
Jorginho is just one of several players out of contract at the end of the season at Chelsea, with fellow veteran midfielder N’Golo Kante looking likely to leave after struggling with injury this season.
Another Chelsea midfielder, Conor Gallagher, is rumoured to be a target for Everton after Sean Dyche was appointed as Frank Lampard’s replacement, with a fee of £45m mentioned.
